This part of Bible doctrine is very dear to me because of the transformative work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers who recognize His presence and allow Him to guide and change them after salvation.
Although the ministry and authority of the Holy Spirit are emphasized repeatedly throughout Scripture, not only by the Apostle Paul in his epistles but also by our Lord Jesus Christ, especially in His final instructions to the apostles before returning to the Father, His authority is often silenced in many of today's church assemblies and replaced by the authority and traditions of men.
"But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you"( John 14:26).
However, it is very important to recognize the Holy Spirit's eternal indwelling in every believer after salvation. His indwelling seals and secures the believer, guaranteeing his eternal security and assuring him of his place in heaven forever.
Silence regarding the Holy Spirit's functions and impact in the life of the believer poses a great danger to the body of Christ, hindering its service and the propagation of the Gospel.
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Thessalonian believers not to quench the Holy Spirit and warned the Ephesian believers not to grieve Him. Does this mean that a believer can lose it? Certainly not. It's steadfastness can be altered when ignorant about its character especially when one is out of fellowship causing immature growth and unfruitfulness in the Christian life.
The Holy Ghost is a gift from God (Acts 2:38) but it also has various and innumerable gifts for believers(1 Corinthians 12:4-7)for the edification of the body of Christ and the assembly of the church(Ephesians 4:12 ).
